Prostějov Mayor Alena Rašková and the representative of the Jewish benevolent foundation Kolel Damesek Eliezer Tomáš Jelínek met today (2016-8-8) to follow with talks on the rehabilitation of the old Jewish cemetery in Prostějov, conducted on behalf of the Jewish community by the Jewish foundation and the Federation of Jewish Congregations of the Czech Republic.
„We agreed at the meeting with the representative of the Jewish benevolent foundation that if the Jewish congregation resolves, as part of the rehabilitation project of the old Jewish cemetery, the access of the Fire and Rescue Brigades of the Olomouc Region, and warrants safe evacuation path for the pupils of the Grammar School and the Primary School, I would propose the project to the Prostějov Council,” said Mayor Alena Rašková. Both parties expressed willingness to continue the talks.
„I do believe after today’s meeting that we, in cooperation with the Federation of Jewish Congregations and the town council, will succeed in implementing the project which will contribute positively to the perception of Prostějov both home and abroad, and one which is of paramount importance for the Jewish community,” said Tomáš Jelínek.
